Yes, That's Romo Lying Under Parcells' Bus

Tuesday, July 22, 2008
On tonight’s HBO Real Sports, Bill Parcells apparently tells Andrea Kremer than Tony Romo’s botched snap in the final moments of the wild card game two seasons ago forced him to put down the head-sets for good.
"We’d just lost to Seattle and I’m flying back,'' Parcells told Andrea Kremer of HBO from his summer home in Saratoga Springs. "I’m sitting up with the pilots, you know, I have a little fear of flying so I ride up in the cockpit. And I said, ‘This is probably going to be my last trip.’ And you just know. You don’t want to go through the whole process again, to get to right where we were. You know?

"And all you got to do is kick a field goal, the most elementary of plays, and then you just don’t do it. And so I don’t want to go through that process again. Too much blood.”

To be fair, there are probably other reasons why Parcells quit – Romo’s butter fingers were just the last straw. But still, blaming both the Cowboys playoff loss and his subsequent retirement from the sidelines on Romo is some pretty classic tossing-under-the-bus from the Tuna.

Bill - if that's the case, then I'm glad Tony flubbed that snap! You needed (and still need) to get over yourself, anyhow! Hasta-la-Tuna! :-D

Reasonable, considering the game should of been won leave it to a prima-donna un-drafted QB who is all over the NFL Network, Wal-mart and other endorsements including a 65.7 million dollar contract with no play-off wins. Now let me see Bill Parcells winner of 2 Super Bowls, build the Jets to a competetive status build the Patriots for Bill Bilacheat and now has the Cowboys who build on everyones list as the favorites in the NFC to win it all, fantasy football and freaking Pro-Bowls Hhhmm give the man his well dedserved respect! I'll take Tuna over a Hype Machine which is known in the media as Tony Romo!

That sounds pretty harsh towards Romo, but when you look at it, I think Parcells meant that to go through a whole season, get into the playoffs, and to have it botched by the most unlikely thing just pushed Bill over the edge. Being an NFL coach is a very frustrating, and many times, a very disappionting job, and Parcells had just had enough.

Maybe Parcells forgot how bad the Cowboys were until Romo took over for Bled-slow. Maybe the botched FG ended the Cowboys season, but Romo was the #1 reason why they were playing in a playoff game to begin with. And shut up about Romo not having any playoff wins. Last year was his first full season of starting. He'll go on to win a lot of playoff games, you know that as well as I do.

If I could buy the "Tuna" for what he's worth and sell him for what he thinks he's worth I would quit playing the lottery. He should go SNL with the other " Not Quite Ready for Prime Time Players"

I am a die hard Cowboys fan, but I believe that last season the Tuna's biggest problem was trying to teach Romo how to be a starting QB. Remember back to the weeks before the butter finger snap, Tuna kept saying that Romo wasn't learning the mental part of the game as he needed too. It sounded at the time like Romo was star struck with the glitter and lights of suddenly being the cool kid. Remember after that game Romo knew that his screw up drove Tuna to retirement and he told of his remorse. I think Tuna just got tired of the new style of football player and the that the old way of coaching wasn't going to work with instant millionaire kids.

I blame Jessica Simpson. Seems like the most logical place to put the blame.

I don't really care for how Parcells blames Romo, but I do appreciate what he did for the Cowboys organization. He came in and put together a good team that has been getting better ever since. The whole botched snap is way overblown, the have made reports on how that ball wasn't broken in correctly...Thats why they have guys on the sidelines now with game ready balls. Lets not forget it was Romo's what 9th game in the NFL......That was a high pressure situation anyway for a guy thrusted into the starting quarterback job for the Dallas Cowboys. He is learning from his mistakes and getting better. I'm willing to bet if Romo would have been available Parcells would've made him a Miami Dolphin just like he did with so many other Cowboys. GO Cowboys!!!

Parcells has always been obnoxious, but he's a winner. And when a winner says someone's a loser, you have to at least consider the possibility. However, to be fair to Romo, he does play for "America's Team," and until he wins the Superbowl, he'll never be embraced by the fans or the media. The monkey (or Tuna, in this case) is squarely on his back.

I would assume that Farve is getting pointers from Tuna on his retirement. It's always drama and deflection with this guy. Don't dislike him or love just tired of him.

Why doesn't anyone mention the HUGE divorce settlement Tuna had to pay right before he came out of retirement to coach Dallas? Please. Bill came back to make up the cash he lost to ex and had no plans to stay in Dallas after his third year. It was all about the money.

Bill it was time you stepped down , you lost it as a coach , for years you ran your teams out of fear and you were not feared in dallas , yes u had a great career but u couldnt get the job done in dallas . People should not give parcells credit for dallas , he did not draft Romo { #2 rated passer in nfl } he did not want T.O ( led the nfl in TD'S } he was forced to play Barber ( pro bowler } hell he didnt evn draft Witten ,Williams and many other cowboys stand outs . Now look at him in Miami he has already lost Thomas and Taylor and wouldnt trade for Shockey or Holt Parcells is a power hungary hasbeen . later Bill

sometimes you get lucky. i was happy enough that play made a grinning idiot nobody quarterback cry, i didn't realize it also helped get rid of a big fat obnoxious coach. although, nowadays i'll be honest. i'd take that big fat obnoxious coach over 99% of these spoiled brat crybaby players anyday.

sarobbins--- you're critizing Parcells for not trading for Shockey? With that statement goes your credibility-- it's a seriously stupid comment.

Parcells is a sore loser, and now he will lose in Miami while the Cowboys win another ring.
